How to Use Assentra

A simple walkthrough of the four core ideas behind the app — portfolios, assets, transactions, and reports.

1

Portfolios hold your assets

A portfolio is a container for your assets. Each portfolio has its own currency, name, and icon.

Split your portfolios any way that makes sense to you — by broker, by country, by strategy, or by asset type. There are no rules.

Group by brokerKeep your Robinhood, Interactive Brokers, or local broker holdings separate.
Group by purposeA “Real Estate” portfolio, a “Crypto” portfolio, a “Retirement” portfolio — your call.
One currency eachEvery portfolio is tracked in a single currency. The app converts everything automatically for your totals.
Tap Create Portfolio on the main screen, give it a name, pick a currency and an icon — that’s it.

Three types of assets

Inside a portfolio you add assets. Assentra supports three kinds, and assets can each have their own currency.

CashA currency balance — pick from the supported currencies and name it. Great for bank accounts and savings.
Market assetStocks, ETFs & funds, or crypto picked from a built-in list. Prices update automatically.
Custom assetAnything else — property, a car, collectibles. You name it, pick an icon, and set the currency.
For market assets, prices refresh on their own. Cash and custom assets are updated by you whenever the value changes.

3

Track every transaction

Open any asset to see its history. Every change you make is recorded as a transaction, so your profit is always accurate.

Buy & SellRecord how much you bought or sold and at what price. The amount and value update instantly.
Income & ExpensesLog dividends, coupons, rent, or staking as income — and fees, taxes, or commissions as expenses.
Price updatesOn the free plan you update prices yourself. On Pro, market prices refresh automatically — no manual work.
Every transaction stays in the history — so you always see how your asset’s value moved over time.

Reports & allocation

Once your assets are in, Assentra builds reports automatically — no extra input needed.

AllocationSee how your money is split across portfolios and assets — and spot what to rebalance.
ROI reportCompare the return on every portfolio and asset, with profit and percentage side by side.
Income reportTrack all the income your assets generate — dividends, coupons, rent and more — by portfolio.
All reports cover your full history and are shown in your main currency, set in More → Main currency.

How your numbers are calculated

Open any asset to see its Summary. Here is what each number on that screen means and how Assentra works it out.

Asset screen with numbered values
The asset screen — each number is explained below.
1

Value

The current worth of the asset you still hold.

Value = Amount × Last price
2

Amount

How much of the asset you currently own.

Amount = total bought − total sold
3

Invested

What the asset you still hold originally cost you — its cost basis.

Invested = cost of the remaining amount
4

Expenses

Every extra cost tied to the asset — fees, taxes, commissions.

Expenses = sum of all expense entries
5

Income

Every extra earning from the asset — dividends, coupons, rent, staking.

Income = sum of all income entries
6

ROI

Your return over the whole life of the asset, against the most capital it ever tied up.

ROI = Profit ÷ peak invested capital × 100%
7

Profit

The overall result on the asset across its entire history — it can be positive or negative.

Profit = Value + money from sales + Income − money spent on buys − Expenses
Last price is the most recent price of the asset. It updates with every Buy, Sell, or Update Price entry, and is also used to draw the chart.
